Man Arrested for Taping a Dog’s Muzzle Shut
A case of terrible animal cruelty took place in South Carolina when a man was arrested for taping a muzzle of a dog. The police apprehended William Leonard Dodson, aged 41, from North Charleston, and charged him with ill treatment of animals.
The dog, Staffordshire mix aged 15 months was a well-known stray dog in the area. It appeared one day last week with her mouth tightly shut. A veterinarian said that the animal was in critical health condition because blood flow to her tongue was cut off. She, however, showed signs of progress while the vets treated her over the weekend. The treatment includes cold laser and hyperbaric treatments. According to an affidavit, the dog was sold to Dodson for USD 20.
He later told the seller that he was tired of barking and had taped her mouth shut. He also said that the animal had freed herself from the chain. The seller picked up Dodson from a line of photographs. He is being held in custody on a USD 50,000 bond. Animal cruelty is far more likely to happen in more isolated areas of the United States, as opposed to big cities where animal awareness is much more present. It has been known to happen that dog owners forget their pets chained in the backyard, which results in death due to dehydration or hunger.
