Georgia Floods Leave Animals Dead And Twenty People Missing
A devastating flood that swept in Georgia left as many as 300 zoo animals dead and twenty people missing while other have been reported dead in Georgia yesterday.
Manana Tokmajishvili, a government spokes woman said “The death toll from the worst flooding that hit the capital Tbilisi in decades went up to 13, this is when the rescue team managed to rescue an elderly man in the debris of a gutted building”.
Officers that were sent in the Tbilisi zoo where the flood left made animal perish and took photos of dead animals like lions, monkeys, tigers and 60 homeless dogs that finds shelter near the zoo.
A large hippo that is named as Begi, has been rescued on Sunday outside the zoo, and now it has been secured in an elephants cage. The report that we got from the big game hunter is, the zoo has lost almost half.
From the look of the situation the small river than runs through the city about 1.2 million descendant, burst it’s bank earlier this Sunday after a several hours of torrential rain that fell in the town leading into the whole wreck in the city.
After the rescue team responded to the situation, volunteers also joined to assist their surviving people and animals that which are floating in the water. Young volunteers in T-shirts and boots for protection and identity are among the helping team to clear and rescue.
This was preceded by the message from the Georgia government a day off for the cleanup activity in Tbilisi.
